I do not accept insurance, which means I choose not to contract directly with insurance carriers (see below for more on this.) However, I can provide documentation for you to submit for potential reimbursement. As an Out of Network Provider for clients living in New Jersey, some services may be covered/reimbursed if you have Out of Network benefits, or if you can obtain a Single Case Exemption or Network Gap Exception.

My primary reasons for contracting directly with clients instead of insurance are autonomy and privacy. For example, insurance may dictate the amount of sessions you’re permitted, including abruptly withdrawing coverage, and/or requiring detailed personalized information about you in order to continue. Private pay allows you to be in the driver’s seat of therapy. I also offer sliding scale options wherever possible to ensure the cost of therapy is accessible to anyone seeking it.

Questions about privacy and personal mental health records come up a lot. Another reason I utilize private pay instead of insurance is because your privacy and personal information shouldn’t be anywhere you don’t want it. We’ve come a long way toward being a ‘stigma-free society,’ but it’s reasonable to not want a permanent record of any type of services or diagnoses. I keep all client records completely confidential, and do not disperse your information to anyone except you, and/or any contacts you authorize in writing. The only exceptions are if you choose to send your records to your insurance carrier, or if there is an emergent life-or-death circumstance where we need to connect you with higher level supports. Barring emergencies and your personal sharing choices, no one needs to know where you are or what you’re navigating… so you can power off your phone and rest easy knowing this is your time.

Making the decision to begin or resume therapy is an awesome threshold to cross, and usually the biggest indicator that change is coming. If you’re familiar with the process or simply ready to dive in, you can visit the book an appointment page and schedule right from there. If you are new to my work, or to therapy in general, I highly recommend scheduling a free 15 minute consult. This will help answer any initial questions you may have, and give you a sense of whether or not this is a good fit.
